Urge Incontinence - loss of urine due to:
A strong need to go to the bathroom
When you hear running water
When you drink a small amount of liquid
Wetting the bed while sleeping
Stress and urge incontinence account for 90% of all urinary incontinence.
Assesment The physical therapy examination, assessment and treatment will be given in a comfortable room where privacy is secure.

Internal pelvic exam to assess muscle strength
Computerized biofeedback, EMG sensors and exercises to: -Assess the activity of the pelvic floor muscle -Obtain a visual preprogrammed and individually customized exercises for home
Lifestyle voiding patterns, fluid intake, dietary irritants
Treatment
Core and pelvic muscle strengthening with exercises
Postural re-education
Physiological quieting/relaxation techniques
Bladder retraining
Electrical muscle stimulation
Lifestyle modification: toileting and diet
Home exercise instruction
Duration: Six to 9 visits over a 2-4 month period. Most sessions last 30-60 minutes. Significant results are usually obtained within 8 weeks, resulting in an 80 -100% reduction in most incontinence.
Cost and Coverage Our computerized biofeedback program is very cost effective and is designed for treatment under guidelines of managed care. Its success makes it ideal for use in circumstances where the number of visits or reimbursement amounts are limited. Most private insurances, as well as Medicare, cover some portions of this program.
