Tamarac Outdoor Tour 2010

This year will bring exciting new adventures for all of our Tamarac outdoor enthusiasts. The tour features excursions, led by Tamarac, on various rivers and trails in Newaygo County. We will be exploring new areas with every trip while learning about our environment and discovering outdoor treasures in West Michigan. 2010 Tamarac Outdoor Tours

Branstrom Snowshoe Hike: January 16th >Photos
Join us as we explore the trails at Branstrom Park. Our snowshoe hike will begin at the lodge at 10:00 a.m. Extra snowshoes available!

Newaygo Experimental Forest Snowshoe Exploration: February 20th >Photos
Join us as we travel through the Newaygo Experimental Forest on a stretch of the North Country Trail. Our hike will begin and end at the Croton Dam Trailhead. Extra snowshoes available!

North Country Trail Adventure: April 10th >Photos
Join us as we explore the Manistee National Forest. Our hike will begin and end at the 40th Street Trailhead.

Pines Point Paddle: May 15th >Photos
Join us as we navigate a section of the White River that flows through Newaygo County. Our paddling trip will begin at Vida Weaver Park in Hesperia and conclude at Pines Point.

White River Wilderness Walk: June 12th >Photos
Join us as we continue our quest to hike all sections of the North Country Trail that pass through Newaygo County. We will begin and end at the M-20 Trailhead and our journey will take us to the scenic White River.

Pine River Paddle: Thursday, July 15th
It’s time to explore a new river. Join us as we navigate the many exciting turns and take in the beautiful scenery along the Pine River. Our paddling trip will begin at Dobson Bridge and conclude at Low Bridge.

River Renew Paddle: Friday, August 13th
Join us as we refresh a section of the Muskegon River that flows through Newaygo County. Our paddling trip will begin at the Thornapple Access and conclude in the City of Newaygo. All participants are encouraged to clean up the river on this trip. Prizes will be awarded to the teams that collect the most rubbish during their journey. Wisner’s is providing canoes, transportation and a wonderful meal afterwards.

Fall Leaves and Trees Hike: September 18th
Join us as we hike the Manistee National Forest on the northernmost stretch of the North Country Trail that passes through Newaygo County. Our fall colors hike will begin and end at the M-20 Trailhead.

Fall Colors Paddle: October 16th
Join us as we explore a scenic section of the Muskegon River. Our paddling trip will begin in the City of Newaygo and conclude at the Bridgeton Bridge (Warner Avenue). Let’s enjoy the fall colors and crisp air together on this lovely stretch of river
