James Patenge, DO

Dr. Patenge is a board certified OB/GYN. He graduated from Michigan State University of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at Garden City Hospital in Detroit. He began his OB/GYN practice in Fremont in 2000 with Gerber Memorial Health Services. Dr. Patenge is now the Chairman of Obstetrics at Gerber Memorial Hospital.
 
After many requests from his patients - that he begin treating hair removal, leg vein removal and other skin-related concerns - Dr. Patenge created a cosmetic laser service, originally housed in the hospital, but now part of Ahhh, The Spa at Tamarac. In 2005 he became certified in BOTOX injections.

“It’s been a natural progression of my services to women, to provide benefits that enhance their physical appearance and also their self-confidence,” stated Patenge. “The beautiful, serene environment here at Ahhh helps make my patients more relaxed and comfortable when they are receiving these effective, high-tech services.”

Karol Stalsberg AMTA, NCA & MCA
Spa Specialist
Karol graduated Suma Cum Laude from Baker College with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Therapeutic Massage. She focuses on relaxation, deep tissue and hot stone massage. She is currently studying pregnancy massage and reflexology.

Karol is also a licensed Cosmetologist and Cosmetology Instructor. She has been licensed in the field since 1983. She taught cosmetology at Chic University of Cosmetology in Grand Rapids, Michigan and the Newaygo County Career Tech Center in Fremont, Michigan and worked in the industry since obtaining her license.

In addition, Karol has dual Associate’s Degrees in Management and Marketing and holds certification as a Customer Service Specialist and a Microdermabrasion and AHA Peel Technician.

Karol’s passion is people and it shows in the work that she performs at Ahhh, The Spa at Tamarac. She feels that she is a lifelong learner because there are so many things she still wants to know. “When God takes me, I’ll stop learning!”

Tricia Grundy
Skin Care Specialist
Tricia Ferguson has been an associate of GMHS for several years as a Licensed Cosmetologist. She has received advanced training in Medical Esthetics with certifications in microdermabrasion, facial peels and cosmetic laser. Tricia is a member of the American Esthetics Association.

Tricia is dedicated to educating her clients and customizing treatment to help them achieve the best results. “I find the most rewarding part of my job is to see the confidence that my clients gain when skin imperfections are improved.” Tricia’s passion is to live before an audience of one.

Irv Marcus
Acupunturist
Irv is a health educator and acupuncturist trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine. He is a graduate of Meiji College of Oriental Medicine in San Francisco where he earned his Masters of Science. Irv is a nationally board certified acupuncturist with a diplomat of acupuncture (NCCAOM). Irv uses innovative, evidenced based programming to promote health awareness and positive lifestyle change.

Maureen Witner, AAS, NCTMB
Certified Massage Therapist
Having had her first massage experience, as well as learning infant massage, more than 25 years ago, Maureen was hooked! She recognized the powerful healing potential of massage. Maureen utilized infant massage on all of five of her children. Knowing the profound effects of massage and the mind/body connection, she is always excited about learning more in the field of massage therapy. Maureen has an Associate’s degree in Applied Science-Therapeutic Massage, is certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB), and is a member of the International Massage Association (IMA). She recently completed her Bachelor’s degree in Health Services Administration. Always pursuing a new learning experience, Maureen is excited to be learning Cranial Sacral Therapy through the Upledger Institute. When she is not doing massage, Maureen enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren, gardening, reading, cooking, and enjoying West Michigan’s beauty.
