Our Life Changed By Pam Petersen and Terry Allers
Like most people, we have struggled with health issues; high blood pressure, high cholesterol, back problems and weight gain. We’ve tried several different approaches to control our weight including Weight Watchers, the South Beach Diet and Slim Fast, but with little success. We knew that we had to do something and decided to check out Tamarac.
Since our first visit to Tamarac, the staff and atmosphere has been friendly and warm. We are always greeted with a smile from Megan, Jackie and all the wonderful staff members. Amanda, Jeremy, Tony, Tyler, and all the guides are very knowledgeable and always there to help us with using the equipment correctly and answering all of our questions. Tamarac was more than expected with access to physical therapists, a daycare facility, The Ahhh Spa, and a variety of cardiovascular and strength classes.
After taking a tour, we decided that Tamarac was the place for us and we joined at the end of April 2008. In the first three months we lost some weight and started feeling healthier and more energetic, but our weight loss slowed and eventually stopped. Our doctor suggested a program that has been successful with his patients and was offered at Tamarac by Gerber Memorial Health Services. It is called New You and is a program designed for weight management. We attended an informational session to find out more about New You, and decided to try it. We started in August and have lost over fifty pounds each in the first eighteen weeks. The knowledge that we have gained over the past five months, is the difference between New You and other weight management programs.
Above all, Tamarac is more than just place to work out, it is a place of warmth, education and life changing experiences for a healthier you. We have made new friends, both with the staff and other Tamarac Citizens. Furthermore, we have explored new activities that we would have never done before and look forward to discovering new and exciting programs and exercises in the future.
